How to customize the authentication request

Updated this week

Log in to your Mailinblack Manager space and go to the Protect section.

Go to the “Authentication templates” page, then click Add an authentication template.

General information settings

Give your template a name so you can easily identify it later.

Authentication request languages

An authentication request template supports all languages by default : Mailinblack analyzes the email you receive to detect the language and sends the invitation in the sender’s language.

👉 For example, if the email was written in English, the authentication request will be generated using the English version of your template.

If we cannot detect the sender’s language, the authentication request will be sent in the default language.

Make sure to choose the language that Mailinblack should use when the sender’s language cannot be detected.

We have already translated a few languages. You can add more languages by clicking Add a language. You will then need to write your own text for that language in the customization steps.

Design elements

In the “Design elements” section, set the logo and the main color that will be visible throughout all steps of the authentication request.

You can reuse the design elements configured in your Cockpit interface by checking “Defined settings”, or you can customize the logo and main color only for this template.

📌 If you use the Word Cloud captcha, make sure not to use colors that are too close to white, gray, or black, as this will make the word difficult to read.

Click Next.

Customize the authentication email

On this page, you can preview and add a custom note to the email that will be sent to your senders so they can respond to the authentication request.

To add a custom note, hover just below the logo. A field called “Add a custom note” will appear :

You can then edit or delete the proposed note by hovering over it.

👉 For custom languages, remember to select the relevant language to customize the entire text.

Switch between the Mobile and Desktop preview to see what the email will look like depending on your sender’s device:

Click Next.

Customize the authentication page

The authentication page allows your sender to authenticate via a captcha and release the email that is waiting in your Protect quarantine.

You can choose between two captcha options: Word Cloud or Puzzle.

To select the captcha you want, hover over the captcha area and click Change captcha.

Select the captcha type:

  • Word Cloud: Customize the proposed words. One of them will be randomly chosen as the word to type.

  • Puzzle: Customize the background image that will be placed behind the puzzle piece to drag.

You can also customize the background image of the authentication page by hovering over it and clicking the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

Customize the confirmation page

The final step of the authentication request is the confirmation page.

On this page, you can customize the footer block to include the image and text of your choice.

Click Next to finish setting up your new authentication request, then assign the template to your domains or email addresses.

What does the invitation sent to your senders look like?

Your sender will receive an informational email that redirects them to the captcha to complete. This email will be customized with your logo and your brand color based on the configuration you set up when creating your authentication request, or from your Management interface.

If you have not configured and assigned an authentication request, the default one will be sent automatically.
