1. How can I find my email?

To search for a specific email, you can use the advanced search feature.

To view all emails, go to the Emails menu in the left-hand menu, then open the Outgoing emails page.

Here, you can find all emails that have passed through Mailinblack, divided into three tabs:

  • Quarantine: Contains emails that were stopped. These emails were not delivered to the recipient's mail server.

  • Not received: Contains valid emails that could not be delivered to the recipient's mail server.

  • Received: Contains valid emails that were successfully delivered to the recipient's mail server.

💡 Valid emails are emails that have passed the filtering process. They are intended to be sent to the recipient's mail server.

2.1 Received emails

By definition, received emails are emails that have been successfully delivered to the recipient's mail server.

If the recipient has not received the email, you will need to investigate it on the recipient's mail server, as Mailinblack is no longer in possession of the email.

Trace the email from your interface to find out more.

2.2 Emails not received

Emails that were not received are listed under the Not received tab.

You can quickly identify emails that could not be delivered to the recipient's mail server and view their delivery status:

  • Deferred

  • Bounced

Non-delivery details are available when you trace the email.

2.3 How do I trace an email?

Tracing an email allows you to view its entire journey through Mailinblack. It includes information about email reception, filtering, and delivery for valid emails.

Click the Trace button at the end of the row corresponding to the email concerned.

Not received:

Tracing the email will provide additional information about how it was processed. You will be able to view details such as:

  • The time the email arrived on the Mailinblack servers

  • The sender's IP address

  • Email filtering details

  • The delivery status to the recipient's mail server for valid emails

3. What are the different delivery statuses?

There are several delivery statuses:

  • Received: Sent

  • Not received:

    • Temporary: Deferred

    • Permanent: Bounced

Below are details of the most common statuses.

3.1 Delivery status: “Sent” server response

The email has been delivered to and accepted by the recipient's mail server.

If the recipient still cannot find the email, you will need to contact the administrator of the recipient's mail server so they can provide more information about what happened to the email after it was accepted by the server.

You can view the detailed response, including the delivery log from the mail server. This provides technical information about how the email was received by the mail server, such as the email ID and delivery code.

3.2 Non-delivery status: “Deferred” server response

The Deferred status indicates a temporary delivery failure.

The recipient's mail server did not accept the email at the time it was sent, but it did not permanently reject it either.

The email is therefore retained, and Mailinblack automatically attempts to resend it every 5 minutes during the first hour following the initial refusal, then once per hour for 5 days.

3.3 Non-delivery status: “Bounced” server response

The Bounced status indicates that the recipient's mail server permanently rejected the email.

The email has also been deleted from our servers, which means we are unable to take any action to recover it.

The sender will receive a non-delivery notification and can then resend the email.

You can contact the administrator of the recipient's mail server and provide them with the server response displayed in the email trace. This information can help them better understand the cause of the delivery issue.
