Some legitimate emails may be categorized as spam due to the SPF check. Mailinblack anti-spam performs this verification to prevent spoofing by a spammer of a sender domain. Therefore, we check that the sending IP address of the email is indeed authorized to send on behalf of the sender domain.
How to check SPF ?
Log in to your Mailinblack space and navigate to your Protect area.
Click on the "Emails" menu.
Hover over the relevant email and click on the following icon to trace the message:
If it's an SPF block, the trace will indicate this message:
An email can be classified as spam because the SPF check has detected it as such. You have the option to view the details of the SPF filtering performed.
How to solve this problem? Two solutions are available to you!
By informing the sender
You can inform the sender that their sending IP is not listed in their TXT record. If it's your domain, you can add the relevant IP to the record.
By adding the sender to an exception list
If the sender is a correspondent you can't reach, you can add their address, domain, or sending IP (if it's fixed) to an exception list. This way, SPF checking won't be performed on it.
However, we recommend adding the IP address if it's fixed or the email address for security measures.
Reminder: spam control is also applied to senders on the whitelist.
