1.What is DKIM?

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an authentication mechanism designed to prevent email spoofing. It improves email security by allowing the receiving server to confirm the legitimacy of the sender's domain.

Here is an article detailing how DKIM signatures work and their advantages.

2. How to set up DKIM for Protect Out?

Setting up DKIM for Protect Out allows you to sign your emails with DKIM directly from Mailinblack when sending emails via the solution.

Please note that before DKIM can be used, Protect OUT must be active and properly configured.

To be sure, you can go to Management, then My Licenses ⇒ Protect ⇒ Protect Out Option.

You should see the Protect Out option under "Subscribed and used." If so, DKIM can be enabled.

If this is not the case, then Protect Out is not configured correctly and outgoing emails are not passing through Mailinblack.

Two steps are required to sign your emails with Mailinblack.

2.1 Generate a DKIM key pair

First, you need to generate the key pair.

To do this, go to the Protect interface, then to General Settings, and expand the Protect Out menu:

You can then choose the domain for which you want to generate the DKIM key.

It is unique per domain, so if you have multiple domains, you will need to generate a DKIM key for each domain declared on Management.

The menu below provides you with the Selector and the public key that you will need to enter in your DNS Zone.

If the DKIM key is not present in the DNS zone, this notification will be visible:

2.2 Set up the new key on your DNS zone

Now that you have generated a DKIM key, we will keep the private key, but you need to enter the public key in your DNS zone so that we can sign emails.

This change must be made at your DNS zone host. We will automatically verify that the public key exists in your DNS zone before signing an email.

When we detect that the configuration is correct, we will display the banner below:
