Proton Pass lets you export data stored in the vault so you can back it up or import it into another password manager.
From which devices can you export your passwords?
The export feature has been available since:
the Proton Pass browser extension;
the Proton Pass web app;
the Proton Pass Windows app.
Exporting is not available from the Proton Pass mobile apps.
How do I access the export feature?
Open Proton Pass from the browser extension, the web app, or the Windows app.
Access the settings by clicking the gear icon.
From the browser extension: open the hamburger menu ☰, then go to Settings.
From the web app: The settings icon is located at the bottom left.
From the Windows app: Open the hamburger menu ☰, then go to Settings.
Click the Export tab.
What export formats are available?
Proton Pass offers three export formats:
ZIP file containing a JSON file encrypted with PGP
Recommended format for storing a backup or transferring the file more securely.
Unencrypted ZIP file
This format can be used if the destination service supports this file type.
CSV
A format commonly accepted by other password managers, but it is not encrypted.
Which format should I choose?
To import your login credentials directly into Sikker, we recommend exporting them directly in .csv format.
Safety Best Practices
Delete the CSV file after importing it into Sikker
Do not send an unencrypted export via email or instant messaging.
Store backups in a secure location.
